Passing on the love of meth, long live Jimmy Smokes and Skepta should down by the border patrol

- China has done is and now, India is following suit. New Delhi, the world's most polluted city, is trying whatever it can to reduce the amount of toxic smog choking its air and everyone inside its city limits. As of this week, the city government is in the midst of a second round of two-week car restrictions to reduce air pollution that has propelled the Indian capital ahead of numerous Chinese rivals and to the top of the list of the world’s most polluted cities. According to the city's top elected official, Arvind Kejriwal, private cars will be allowed on the streets on alternate days from now until April 30 based on even or odd license plate numbers. The first day of the ban was a holiday in India and traffic was minimal compared to the typical gridlock that clogs the roads in the capital every day. With schools, colleges and government offices closed, it was a rare and short-term chance to clear the air in the most minimal way possible. To enforce the restrictions, more than 5,000 civil defense volunteers will assist police and violators will be fined $30. This could be a solid moneymaker for the government, as over 700 people were fined in the first few hours after the restriction went into effect at 8 a.m., police said. Most believe that the true chaos will begin on Monday when people return to work. A similar short-term driving crackdown in January had led to a significant reduction in pollution levels after more than one-third of the city's 3 million private cars went off the roads. A large part of the problem is that many vehicles in India, especially trucks, run on highly polluting diesel. As a result, air pollution contributes to more than 600,000 deaths each year in the country. But breathe easy - for now - New Delhi residents……..

- You can't rock the mic in America if you can't get past U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. Grime recording star Skepta was supposed to light up the stage at Coachella this weekend, but it turns out that the only flow he’ll be unleashing will come through social media for the time being after he was denied a work visa that would have allowed him to enter the United States. "Love to everybody that wanted to see me on tour this month, my U.S visa has been denied and I am not allowed in America right now," he wrote on Twitter. In a subsequent Instagram post, he added, "Still taking forward steps and forever working with God. Brb.” This could affect more than one festival gig, as Skepta has several other U.S. tour dates booked April and May, all of which are now under threat. It was supposed to be a big weekend for the grime star, as he revealed details of a new song, “Man,” and confirmed that Pharrell Williams will appear on his new album 'Konnichiwa.’ “Man” samples heavily from Queens Of The Stone Age's song 'Regular John,” and the album on which it appears is due out on May 6. Performing at Coachella is typically a great chance to grab attention from new fans in a new country, but the British rapper with a Nigerian birth certificate won't have that chance and may not be able to perform in the U.S. any time soon if he can't clear up the bureaucratic red tape that tripped him up this time around……..

- There is no sense in making or enjoying quality meth if you’re not going to pass the joy of the white trash drug of choice on to the next generation. North Carolina resident Kimberly Dawn Lowery and her boyfriend, Nathan Todd Vallini, understand the importance of sharing the good things in life with your children even though that sharing now has them in jail. This dynamic parenting duo was arrested after Lowery’s  four children tested positive for methamphetamine, the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office announced. The four children – ranging in age from 4 to 12 – were living with the couple when some narc of a relative filed a complaint about possible drug use in the home. Clearly, this unidentified relative didn’t appreciate the chance for these kids to get an head start on becoming top results in a Google image search for “faces of meth,” so investigators subsequently began an investigation and tested the children. When the kids tested positive for meth, Lowery and Vallini were each charged with four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. It’s unclear how the meth got into the children’s bodies, be it by using the drug directly or secondhand means, but either way, it’s a nice reminder that there are a hell of a lot of people in this world who should not procreate and should be immediately relieved of any children if they do happen to give birth. Here’s hoping you enjoy your jail time and your kids being in foster care, tools………

- Long live Jimmy Smokes. He may be 71 years old and about 751 packs of Marlboro Reds past the time lung cancer and emphysema should have sent him shuffling off this mortal coil, but that doesn’t mean Detroit Tigers special assistant Jim Leyland is simply going to chill and casually enjoy his remaining time on this planet. Leyland, the famously irascible and incorrigible former skipper of the Tigers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Miami Marlins and Colorado Rockies, clocked out as an MLB manager in 2013, but has continued to work for the Tigers and will now manage Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. "It's a great honor to be named manager of team USA," Leyland said in a statement. "I'm looking forward to working with USA Baseball on this challenge in my career. I'm excited to get started and flattered with this opportunity." Of course, that’s assuming the multiple packs of unfiltered cigarettes this guy smokes daily don’t claim his life before the fourth World Baseball Classic takes place in 2017, but it would be awesome to see a guy who has never served as a manager on an international level get this chance. He ranks 15th on the all-time MLB managerial wins list with 1,769 and first all-time in nicotine ingested, so maybe Leyland will help the United States bounce back in the WBC after being eliminated in the second round in 2013. "We could not be happier to have Jim Leyland serve as the manager," USA Baseball CEO Paul Seiler said in a statement. "His tremendous managerial success will produce immediate respect and rapport amongst the players and staff and we look forward to him leading Team USA to new heights in the World Baseball Classic." Just make sure there’s a designated smoking area at the stadium for all Team USA games and everything will be just fine………
